If x-sim hangs up this is something completely different. There is no bidirectional communication with the AMC, only a stupid output. This cannot hangup if the virtual comport driver is working.
If a answer is correct or did help you for a solution, please use the solve button.

Hi lj1202,
On the first page from this topic you can download the terminal21... app. With this app.you can test if the connexion with the com port is ok from the amc.
Bitrate 115200 8 bit no parity no control or no check , and click connect .In the app window you can check if the communication is ok.Thanos made a video on the first page of this topic
Best Regards

Thanks

What setup should I use for the AMC 1.6 to use the encoder feedback instead of pots?

Hi fooons,
A few weeks ago I asked the same question and Thanos answered to me that I couldn't use this components with the amc1.6 board.
He used this encoders with his new amc6644usb that you can watch on his blog I believe.

hope he will answer soon ... If someone knows where is Thanos !! ;)

BUT

When I press "START" on X-sim the board reboots and show strange characters... what can it be?

Anybody has the same problem?
I´m testing with Xsim 3 and another old Xsim.

Hi,

Your ATmega1284p may be overclocking in-tolerate.

In that case you might have to use different crystal speed. Here is a compiled version for ATmega1284p and crystal 18.432Mhz:

Try it and let me know.

Quadrature encoders are not implemented yet. After all other issues are sorted out and have some free time for this, we will see what happens. There is a lot of things involved about them that makes them a little hard to use after all.

Hi Thanos and everybody ,
I made a new test with asynchronus gearmotor and inverter.
It's look better because I changed some parameters and the motor was wrong wired .It was in star instead delta.
The inverter provide from single phase 220V 50Hz ,3 phases 220 V to the motor with various frequencies.
Gearmotor :
Power 0,25 kW
Gear ratio : 100
Output rpm: 12 with 140 Nm with motor at 1400 rpm.

A little more information about inverter parametring:

1 - The motor is controled by the inverter in VFC mode (Vector Flow Control).this setup is recommended for dynamics applications where high torque is always needed to assume the whole charge(load+ dynamics )
2 - A braking resistance is used
3 - I had the max current seted to 106%, I go up to 150% (I have to check that the motor temperature doesn't go up 80 ° celsius degrees)
5 - The ramp is as follow : 0V setpoint = 0 Hz, 10V setpoint = 100 Hz (3000rpm), with a ramp up and ramp down to 0.1 seconds. I have to check this in full load and if I can increase this to 0.2 s without bad sensation playing with the simulator ,the motor would better drived as requested for always maximal torque.
6 - In the inverter in VFC I do have a dynamic boost function activated , which I have not modified its base settings.

I know that this motors and inverters aren't cheap but I just would like to schow that this solution seems working perfectly with amc1.6 and X-sim3.One more times ( in fact thanks thousends times) thanks to Thanos, and Sirnoname for his amazing products and for sharing all to us.

I made a video with this last test:

Best Regards

Thanks for the details!!! Lots of people will be interested in that.

Just a note, If you disable the LCD update (DIP SW1 to OFF position) you will get even better updates more accurate positioning.

Best Regards,
Thanos
