Here you can ask general questions about sim building, not related to the various hardware sections

I'm from China, and planning to build my own 6 DOF simulator that talking with you through email bfg10k@hotmail.com

What you want to know about it?
I think I can help :)

Please let me *

Yue Qi,

That would be very welcome. I'm currently orientating myself on AC worm gearbox motors for the Thanos 6DOF configuration in the Chinese market.
I think I might get them much more cheaper than here in the Netherlands. And most probably also with more precise specs for optimal 6DOF configuration.
I've attached a spec sheet with directions from the vendor what gearbox motor he could offer for me. Maybe you can have a check. Would be most appreciated :-)

I can tell you about these worm gearboxes will be fine. I have used them before on 6DOF with no problem.

Fabian did use similar ones as well:

Hi Thanos, that's good to hear. Can you tell me looking at the specs if you would go for the 0.75kW (BHADE090) or 1.1kW (BHADE110).
The 6DOF is expected to work with a load of about 250Kg. What diameter of out put shaft would you advise?

Marc1911:

How much of it in Netherlands? could you give me the vendor info about this gearbox in China?
Maybe I can have a try about it, if it is not far from Beijing :P

Like Tronicgr said, Ian's 6DOF just using this motor and gearbox and is works pretty good.

Marc1911:

Tianji giving you the 202 USD quote?
If so, that is quite good price I think.
In China, RV75 is about 105 USD, RV90 is over 140 USD, adding international transportation cost, 202 USD still a good price.

I will see if I can get one in Beijing (Dongguan is over 2000 km far for me ToT) and have try.

Thx and have a nice day.

I had canceled my old order, and placed an new order from this supplyer :)

6 AC motors & 6 worm gearboxs, total about 1,000 USD, including the transportation cost from Dongguan to Beijing.
It is quite cheap indeed.

AC motor: 220v 750w 3phase 1440rpm
Gearbox: RV75 1:60ratio

It's cost 10 days to assemble and ship those to Beijing.
Will post feedback when it comes.

Have a nice day :)

Good job!! Only $1000 for all six gearmotors! ;)

On the other side of the pond, good motors are still expensive...
