2DOF separated axis outputs

Here you can ask general questions about sim building, not related to the various hardware sections

What about using 4 standard car(eg. vw golf) 12V wipers, because I saw that wiper motor simulators are noticeably slower than actuator(SCN5) ones.

So you suggest pololu JRK , amc1.6 + h-bridge or New Arduino + h-bridge project?

I have attached screenshot from my (quick sketch)model in Catia, but I think there could be too much stress on motors or even frame if I cramp motors under the seat like that without much needed leverage.

What do you think? Maybe I should use 4 motors, each on opposite sides of one axis, to releave the stress a little?

Thank you for your answers, since I really must know that before I start buying materials.

consider 12v boat winch motors if you want lift on a frame.
With JRKS, they will work fine.

I was thinking more about around 150W each, which more or less equals truck wiper motor. The only thing I dont know yet if I'm going with two or four.

Is it much more hassle and trouble if you go with four motors?

Thanx!

No hassle going with 4 motors , just a matter of profile writing to suit each motor ,and more control boards.
The winch motors are 250 watts each and will lift 250 kg each , easy.

Could you maybe link me to winch motor your recommend. I was calling around for truck / bus wipers, but prices vary from 100 EUR (used) to 860 EUR (new bus wiper motor). So it's kinda of tough decision what to buy.

Probably if I go with 4 wipers, standard car motor should also do?

I'm pretty shure I will go in this kind of direction (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... jiLxx_bkrw). But does it mean I have to reprogram every .dll / game setup code to work like simulator in video or would default game profiles / setups in xsim work?

Thanx!

I only have Australian links
12v winch motor
http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online ... 0921#Cross
12v big worm gear motor
http://www.motiondynamics.com.au/worm-d ... -180w.html

id be very surprised if a car wiper could do , even 4 of them, consider bigger motors.

that ferns sim has an airbag under it with the wipers
he did a rebuild of the frame with 24v motors without an airbag. I reckon 12v motors would do just as well.

I have attached screenshot from my (quick sketch)model in Catia
I really like your assembly design! Where do you gt the "seat catpart" from?

Perhaps this documents can help you to calculate your problem.

Thank you a lot motiondave. This design you sent me (in pictures) is really what I designed in Catia before I had any clue to start, but with four motors.

And yes you have that right car wipers couldn't do job properly I'm now going through catalogs for 24v industrial solution, I just need to find reductor that would fit them.

Great job man! Dave if you find yourself in Slovenia contact me, I owe you a beer:) Could you just please give me link to where you got pictures of the simulator in pictures you posted above. Thanx!

Thank you too yokoyoko for the chart!

I can start ordering parts *

I cannot find the link, I saved the photos a while ago.

As for Slovenia, a mate of mine from there is in town (Sydney), if he goes back there, he can have my beer.

Shure, especially if he's also into simulator hobby, here's my mail tyrionulthuan@gmail.com:)

Is that fern's new simulator in pictures? I mean has anyone tested that design and can confirm it works.

Thanx!

I dont know if its tested, although I did see a video somewhere of 180kg on it and moved with ease, mind you, he had 2 rear hatch gas struts to help hold the load. Under 120kg, it seemed to do fine without them.
I am tempted to build a design like this myself, but with the other projects on the list, it will be a llllllloooooooooooooonnnngggggggggggg time before I get to this, maybe 6-7 months at least.
