I haven't started ordering the parts yet and now I'm very interested in the kangaroo option. My level of knowledge is very low here and I'm unfamiliar with the names and terms so a bit of what you guys are saying is going over my head. I'm an auto Mechanic (only antiques) and a PC gamer. I build my own computers and know my way around windows a little better than the average facebook zombie but that's about it.

I found out I can run my bass shakers with X-sim too so now I'm working on trying to get the X-sim software figured out well enough to use it and it is very overwhelming for me. I'm using the youtube setup video in addition to the PDF manual and having some troubles. When I try to launch the 3D SimForce GT software I get a cascade of the same error message (in German!) halfway across my screen =(. Other than that a few things that popped up in the video on their own didn't pop up on my system. I'm trying to work my way through it in my spare time but I'm also working on building my platform and other projects so I hesitate to spend more than an hour or two at a time on the software currently.

I figure it's past time I did a hard drive wipe and fresh windows install, but since using a separate computer to run X-sim is recommended by a lot of you guys I'm planning to go that route. I just got some used hardware to upgrade my HTPC and now I have enough old parts to cobble together a computer just for this purpose. I will resume trying to make the software work in a day or two when I get that machine up and running.

Any recommendation on what OS to use on the X-sim machine? I have XP, Vista 64, and Seven 64 available. I have a friend who is a LINUX guy so if that is the way to go he can help me through using an alternative OS. My gaming/sim rig is running Windows 7 64 bit.

Thanks for all the help!

I use win 7 32 bit cracked and win 7 64 bit genuine, both work fine.
Allow x-sim related programs through firewall and disable anti virus.

The kangaroo, as bob explained to me goes between an arduino and h-bridges. Its a auto tune card, so you press the button and it sets everythin gup on the motors for you.
No need to muck around with code or PID.
