Hi guys,
I'm a new member and I'd like to ask about the possibilities of building 3dof simulator for ps3, with the grand turismo 5

So please help me out...!

Hi luminass669,

The problem with Ps3 is that you can not get data of forcefeedback, position and physics. You can only build a cockpit with the wheel but no movement.

To get driving sensations, may be you can use a buttkicker to transmit vibrations with sound.

How about taking the data and feedback from Logitech G27? Is it possible?

Too complicated and very difficult way. I don't know how to capture data from ps3 to g27. Info that ps3 sends to g27 is already procesed and uses its own format.

Motion controller do not understand this info so you will need a special hardware with special firmware and probably a special interface to capture data. For this reason we use a pc. Think that ps3 games are programmed exclusive for this kind of forcefeedback hardware and Sony validates as Ps compatible.

as far as i know this has been long discussed, and the finnal answer always is no, but, who knows... but the short answer is

it is not possible in an easy way. (but... we are complicated people so... )

Well I'm not good at this stuff so... I might do it with pc, since it's difficult to take data from ps3.
So what would I need to start my project by using pc, like how many actuators? And where id find them?....❔

First surf the forum in the "project gallery" menu (at the top of the homepage) and decide :

1. how many degrees of freedom (moving axis) you want to use in your sim, this would tell you how much money you want to invest, the basic is 2dof (two degrees of freedom) for each degree you add, the ammount of money practicly doubles.

2. decide what do you whant to play primary (race games or flying games), if you want to race, a seat mover "flex type" would be a good idea, if you want to fly, a joyrider seams to be better option.

3. decide if you want actuators or electric motors, (actuators seams to be the best option, and maybe simpler, but more expensive) on the other side,if you use electric motors you can choose from wipers motors or bigger better and more expensive motors.

4. the you have to decide wich electronic hardware you will use:
* the cheapest but a little difficult: use arduino and motor drivers
* the easiest use two jrk cards from pololu
* the best countrol (i guess) with more alternatives use the amc tronic thanos card, that you have to build yourself with your hands.

i hope this helps

best regards
