Analog Gauge Servo Commander

Postby Tombo » Fri 6. Sep 2013, 15:26

Hi,
today i just want to test a rc servo with the servo Commander apllication to build an analog gauge later. I have read this page http://x-sim.de/manual/hardware.html and orderd a rc servo and 3,5mm plug.
I have connectet Signal and ground wire from servo to 3,5mm plug and also power and gnd from servo to an external 6v powesupply.
I start Converter and Extractor on the same pc.
In Gauge setting i selectet speed to the liston the right to slot1.
But if i press start on the servo commander all sliders go to minimum andthere is no change.
Im getting all inputs right in converter is there anything else what i have to do?

The old piece of software ;)
You have to add for example a axis, add a G-Force plugin and bind it to speed.
The slider should turn with the level of the blue math line.
The servo commander do not work good on all soundcards (some mix a virtual 3D over all outputs).

Hi,
thanks for your fast help. Now im getting the correct input value in Servo commander but i didn't get to manage the servo making any movement. Maybe my soundcard is not suitable. Maybe there are any other solutions without using uso output?

Hi Tombo,

Look at the first page of xsim.de website and the subject about dashboard with obd2.Read it and follow link inside to the topic. ;)

Hi,
i've already done this with obd and tabled connection. But i get a real car dashboard and want some analog speed and rpm meters in it.

Hi ,

If you use the code given by Sirnoname for getting values you can make after what you want .I wrote the code for dysplay , instead you can wrote the code for rc servos.
Like said just copy the Sirnoname code available on main topic page , copy and paste and write your code for what you want.

Arduino can drive anything, the community is simple big. Libraries are available from different sources.
Simple give it a try and show us here a analogue solution with the help out of the arduino community.

Hi ,

Sirnoname made for me the most complicated part of thoe job that means the requests for getting rpm, speed , etc values.

Making the code for displaying , for driving rc servos or stepper motors is not so dofficult. There are many exemples that you can copy and paste to the main code.
And with big wish like building a sim rig you will achieve your target!!! ;) and I forgotten xsim community members who can give some help.

It is copy paste.
You find a sketch with servos or car dashboards air cores, then you take this code and place it in the first code where I wrote (Place here your LCD code).
Some variables are then set to sync with the X-Sim code.
In best case you find a arduino library, like for RC servos, and read then this library manual how to use. Then you need to place only one command with the value behind.
