What nr of poles to choose in AC motor 2,4 or 6?

Postby Marc1911 » Tue 12. Aug 2014, 21:25

Hi there,

I'm checking out minimum specs on the AC 3 phase motors to be used for 6DOF racing. I come across maybe an interesting configuration of a motor of the brand Marathon, type HJN series energy saving 3 phase asynchronous motor ->link
with a worm gear box reductor of 80:1 of the brand Transtecno type CM 030 -> [urlhttp://www.elektromotorshop.com/Content/files/cm%20doc.%20transtechno.pdf]link[/url]

The motor is available in 2 4 and 6 poles. Which should I use and why?

The motors in the link you provide, are for 400volts... that's why the various poles...

You should have a look on these motors as reference:

I think usually they are 4 pole... for 3phase.
