D-Box DIY

Postby beeratis » Thu 10. Jan 2013, 12:11

Hello guys I want your opinion and experience!!!
I make a thought to build a racing simulator like the d-box's one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWVbqTVejjE or
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tdoQCUrtgs
I am planning to use 3 or maybe 4 SCN5 actuators 50mm
Is that possible what you thing? Is there a project like this with SCN5?

You would need SCN6 actuators, i think they are rates at about 20-40 kg each, but EXPENSIVE!
If you are keen on a 4 DOF, consider 12v boat winches on each corner, sure they are noisy, but they should lift 100kg each easy. Considering they are rated to 900 kg each.
I use a converted brick actuator, but at $2000 each replacement, no thanks. They move 50 kg each easy.
the cheapest alternative I have found do far for these is $650 less motors.
Big worm gears may do it, but it hasnt been tested yet on a 4 DOF, however a spring underneath to help support the frame would overcome this.
