H Battlestar ,
Im have had a look at your profiles on the cloud system and compared them and modified my setups to be the same as yours .Do your profiles all work as they are on the cloud ,or did you mangae to trim them them to be more finely tuned ? If you have the time please look at my gallery and go through the profile screen shots I posted there .I know it is a lot and time consuming ,My apologies for this ,But I need to know if that is the setup that should be performing like crazy and how does it relate to the actual performance of a real car ?
Best Regards

Hi Warstyl,
any profiles I have on the cloud are a starting point for me. I modify them to suit the particular game I am playing. Having said that, I am a beginner at profile making and adjusting and am still finding my way. The link that vicpopo sent you to his youtube video showing his setup in converter is the same for me. In the "Output setup" screen, the "Output axis direct" box has
"Do not use a direct output" for each axis. Also shown in vicpopo's video, if you are using a relay for safety, you must add a sequence that sets the K8055d digital Output 01 to 1. This must be added for positive and negative directions for each axis. And finally, the
"output to set at stop" for each axis should be analogue output (1 or 2) and set to 50% of the analogue integer slider.
Most of this is in the Manual. If you take what has been posted by the French guys using the Velleman K8055d and Sabertooth boards, like I did, then you should have "controlled movement" of your motors. But I say again, vicpopo's video does show the settings that worked for me.
From the screenshots that are in your gallery it looks as if you are trying to mix and match settings. If that is the case I'm not surprised that you're having problems. The manual has solutions to most of the problems that we are likely to meet.

Hope this is of some help,
Mike

Hi Warstyl,
This is an excerpt from a post by vicpopo that includes a link to a French site. I have my sim wired as shown on the site. He also mentions the synaptrix sequence blocks that should be included. This stops the motors in the event of a software crash. :)

If you want no damage on your simulator you have to use an output from the velleman to cut off the power when xsim crash.
It will prevent for any damage !
Look at this post from the french team:
http://vos-playseat-stephaned61.xooit.f ... -glace.htm
I made a 2dof with this configuration and I use a simple car relay (12v ,30 A) connected with a velleman output and a simple 9v power supply wich commute to cut off the main power supply (12v-30A).In XSim you, have to write in all synaptrix sequence bloks a line "set output k8055d nr 0 (any from the 8or 9 available) to 1"
When Xsim 's crashing the output commute to 0 and you can drive the relay wich falled and cut off the main power supply.
I confirm too that you can use the xsim function dynamic speed for motor positionning instead the 2 speeds (fast speed and low speed near the final postion)

Hi Battlestar ,
Thanks again for your valid input ,It is greatly apreciated .The safety relay concept I understand and the wiring ,so this is not a major problem at the moment for me .My biggest problem is the movement ,which I am now going through everything once again .With reference to your first reply you mentioned that ( " it looks as if you are trying to mix and match settings.") I first tried the tests as per the k8055 demo software and that was ok ,I then done the tests ie: feedback ,motor control movement percentage etc ,as per the manual ,and some posts and that worked ,then tried the settings in the manual for the profile and that did not work ,then I tried the settings as per the tutorial kevin posted and still no movement ,then I tried abdgg `s settings and had movement but not what I expected ,I then had a look at stephaned61 `s ( the french guys ) setup and still not much success .I actualy typed in all the settings exactly the way they showed .That is what is so strange about the whole profile scenario ,it just does not make sense ,Yet all the boards, potentiometers were working as per the tests and explanations .Therefore I went back to the profiles and went through them again .I then started looking at various profiles and eventually ended up with one of your profiles and done some adjustments of my own and viola I had motion but as I mentioned not the way I want it .I am going through your suggestions and all the posts again and will let you know what or where I find a problem and how I have rectified it or not .Then perhaps we can take it from there .This all seems strange .
Thanks again .
Best Regards

Hi warstyl,

for your new Jrk's here some screenshots of configurtion utility:

Dont use exact my values here. Find your won by using the "learn" button.

Same here. Start with a "softer" PID like P=2; I=0; D=1. But this depends on your used motors.

Here you should start with values around 200 and current of 15A. If everything (motion etc.) works you can raise this and find a fitting PID with the "plot" option of the Jrk's.

For the Convertor you can try this one:
warstyl rfactor test 2dof.txt
(40.06 KiB) Downloaded 618 times
(change the *.txt to *.rn2 )

You will have to find your comports in the output section and add them. (Universal Serial Ouput)

Right Motor:
--->a01

Left Motor:
---->a02

For your first test's reduce the sliders on the desktop to about 10-20% and raise them to get the motion you want for your setup.

Good luck and have fun.

Hi yokoyoko ,
Thanks for the informative screenshots .It is really appreciated .
I will post all the details regarding my project ,the pros and cons ( good and bad ) aspects related and what I have experienced so far in getting this simulator up and running .I have also had a look at the other documentation you mentioned and also the videos which motiondave made in setting up the com ports and some of the configurations .
Thanks again and will keep you posted .
Best Regards
