Re: Error connecting to com port

I tryed changing the com number to com1 in the advanced setup, it still did not work.

I downloaded the comport monitor, and tryed on my desktop computer (which connects) i could see everything. Then switched over to the laptop, i could not get the comport monitor to open, I assume it was not compatible with windows 8, so i downloaded another comport monitor program. I tryed connecting with xsim, got the same error as always, and the comport monitor program showed nothing at all..

Any more suggestions? I think i have the installer from the older 3.0.0.9 version of xsim (this is the version that is working on my desktop) I might try removing the lastest version off my laptop and trying this one?

I i'm Simone from Italy
i dont know if if is the same with arduino but for me( i have Pololu jrk) it was necessary to delete all entry and it work perfekt.
Eliminate all uso string and com port in x-sim setting
Other you can try to install old version of x-sim

Hi Jason, Have you solved it yet?

If not, a screenshot of the actual error message you are getting may help.

Hmm, yesterday i was going to try the old software. But i thought i'd give it one more go... and bingo it connected first time, i disconnected and re connected probly 10 times with no problem.

Today i tryed again, everything exactly the same, and it wont connect.

The error message simply says 'error opening comport COM1'

Jason,

as long you do not tell us what you are doing exactly we cannot know what you are doing and what is your goal.
It seems like you play with the USO, but for which reason and for which interface.
In case of comports: there is no difference between any windows versions. It will for sure work.
Differences can be usb comport drivers which are not a part of the OS.

Best regards,

I had the same problem and almost burned the arduino XD. I tested all the options that I found in the Internet and the solution that worked in my case is the next:

When I install the x-sim software y check the option windows compatibility. When x-sim starts the application says that its running in a compatibility mode. Finally I remove the option of compatibility and the arduino worked.

Its not necessary that this solution will work in your case. In my case I work with W7 x64

Sorry for my English and regards from Spain

EDIT: I saw the configuration and I had an error. The first time that I used x-sim converter I did not activate the compatibility Windows option and Arduino did not running (with the same error that you). However I put the compatibility windows option (and the application says that its running in compatibility mode) and check the option: run with administrator and finally works.

Havn't really been doing much on the sim for a while, but trying to get it working today.

This is what i have found so far..

Using xsim 3.0.1.4 it will not connect, all i get is com error

Using xsim 3.0.0.9 it connects.

Everything else is the same

This versions are not available anymore. Perhapy because of error? You should also read the "View changes" link on the download section!
