Hi all,
I recently set up X-sim to drive a single bass shaker (Buttkicker). I am using the 'bass shaker' output plugin and two games, Assetto Corsa and Project Cars. All seems to work great, except: After a short and seemingly random amount of time (sometimes 5mins, sometimes 30mins) the output signal to my sound card just stops. However I can see nothing visibly changing in either the extractor or converter applications. The 'start/stop' button in the converter doesn't change appearance, it still indicates the converter is on. Neither the converter nor the extractor applications crash or are unresponsive. The output just goes dead.
Clicking 'stop' in the converter and then 'start' again does not fix the problem, the output stays dead. But, whenever this happens, I can fix the problem by closing and re-opening both applications, clicking 'start game' in extractor (even with the game still running) and then 'start' in converter. Then it will work again for another little while before cutting out again.
My PC is running a 4670k i5 processor overclocked to 4.3ghz and a gtx 980 graphics card. It is well cooled and stable. I am running these games at a solid 60fps. Sound card is a MOTU ultralite. The sound card keeps outputting on its other channels so I do not think it is at fault. X-sim is outputting to one channel on the MOTU which is then feeding the Buttkicker amplifier. I am running a Fanatec wheel and pedal setup.
These drop-outs happen with both games. I notice no difference there.
I searched the forum and found someone else referencing this problem, in one of the Assetto Corsa threads. That person thought the problem was due to the 'enable auto-start trigger' box being checked and suggested deselecting this feature. However, that box has always been unchecked since I installed the X-sim software, so I don't think this is the problem in my case.
Thank you in advance for any advice!
