Offline key?

Postby berksglh » Sat 7. Apr 2012, 23:36

What is required to recieve an extractor offline key?

I live way out in the country and have no internet access where I am building my 2DOF chair. I can drag my laptop, IO and and some simple actuators into town and test it at work on a bench, but I have no practical way to get my actual SIM chair with all the mounted gear and a PC all draged into town and connected to the web.

It will be a bit dificult to develop the system completly offline, but I think i can do it. It will all be a big waste of time if i cant get an offline key.

Cant quite seem to find much info on it in the manual, just the errors i kept getting trying to get the software to run offline, it said i needed an offline key. While in town to set it up on-line, The offline mode botton states it is for soporters only?

Am i screwed, or is there a way to get a offline key?

Software Button on top, then software menu -> Terms of usage, same for comercial partners-> terms of usage.
The next beta 3.0.0.1 and up will have a better offline support, it was much work to get it running with the online database if you want to join online later.

In the manual it says that after loging in and launching extractor, if the network connection is broken, you can still run the simulator as long as you dont shut extractor down.

So for now I can drive into town where i can get internet access, then open and log on to extractor with my laptop, force offline mode by disconecting from the internet, then drive home with the laptop powered up and extractor still running but offline.

Without a connection to the net, I cant open extractor "at home".

As long as i dont need to power the laptop down, or shut extractor down, I should be good. And can log in when in town to share profiles adn whatever the cloud pulls from my system.

I may be able to get my old 14k dialup going on my larger desktop pc to be able to just log in then go offline to run it on that, but 14k is basically useless, so we discontinued the service, and its as good as we can get out where we are for the money.

I am excited to get my mini SSC2 this week and hook up some test servos and try to get things moving forward.

Ok, so my offline solution above seems to be working just fine, as long as i dont shut down.

I Got my mini sscII serial output working and output strings all setup and it apears to be working and sending game data. :D So on to my next issue.

This software is just overwhelmingly powerfull. Now if i can just make sence of it all.
