Hello Everyone!

I'm planing to build a cheap 6dof motion platform for VR HDM using wiper or worm drive motors.
(2014 version of holodeck, so far only for racing and flying sims ;)
I plan to keep the platform light (no monitors) just a metal frame around bucket racing seat, platform for pedals and FF wheel or hotas.

it should look like something between

and
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfuxC_f87UI

excluding monitors.

So far I'm leaning towards these motors:

Hopefully they can hold the load, if not I'm thinking of throwing in 6 levers.
Cheers.

Hello to all,
I am a Mechanical Engineer with, Ph.D about mechatronics.
My biggest hobby is cars, i tried to drive&mod powerful ones (Megane 225, Evo 8 etc.) but after 2 kids, i left big hp arena ( A4 Avant 2.0TQ ). After that i tried to satisfy myself with racing simulators instead. Started like a hobby, but as we have a founded a company for Robotic systems, we tried to created our own software a 3+1DOF platforms.

Thats me driving there...

Hello to all newcomers! :)

@Mertalta: I liked your video! Your sim looks very reactive and with a good amplitude of range!
I'm sure we all appreciate if you can share information on a dedicated post !

Hello and thanks for the acceptance into your forum. I'm new to sims but I want to build a 3DOF for personal use (x-plane and racing). I want to start with a servo prototype first then the real thing. Just ordered an Aduino UNO ......not sure about what other hardware i'll need for the servo prototype ........ still researching.

Thanks again for having me on your forum.

Hi everybody

Another newby on this forum here. I am busy building my lifelong dream of a proper 6DOF flight simulator with simulated instruments, etc.

My mechanical design has come a long way and is based on my requirements (or rather wishlist) of having a platform with surge, sway and heave of +- 150mm and yaw, pitch and roll +-24°. My maximum weight on the top platform is planned to be ~300kg. I still need to decide whether I will be going for servo’s of AC motors with VFD’s.

I have started with the electronic interface design but it takes up much more time that anticipated. I would rather acquire a ready built interface than spending endless hours of development. I just made contact with Thanos regarding his AMC1280USB. Any suggestions in this area of simulation software / motor interfacing will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
TJ
