My name is Mark. I was a member of the X-Sim forum about 4 or 5 years ago and at that time I built a sim chair using a K8055 and a couple of wheelchair motors.
Family commitments and other stuff got in the way after the build and I ended up giving the rig to my friend who still uses it to this day.
I'm really so impressed with the amount of work that has gone into X-Sim over the years and owe so many thanks to all those involved.
Over the years tho I have been collecting some items to help me build my ultimate sim. I've also been studying C on a 32bit microcontroller and the CanOpen network protocol as all of the hardware I have supports this. The sticky point for me is deciding whether to use software or hardware to interface with X-Sim. Via Codesys/PLC and MFC/DDE or use the PLC as a master only and collect axis position info via RS232 and a custom CanOpen node. I have been going down the hardware route using CanopenNODE (github Canopennode) on a PIC32MX but have recently discovered that X-Sim publishes a MFC file that I may be able to access from Codesys, more research required.
Now I have everything that I need as far as motors & control gear the fun begins

First stage is to plan the mechanics and put down what is in my head into CAD. I will be using PTC Creo for this (I use it on a daily basis as part of my job).
I'll start a project page to chart my progress but it wont be quick paced, we have another child on the way

The forum wont let me post vidsor pics so I'll try it on another post, maybe as this is my first.
Cheers
