simdrivers weight

Postby seppel » Tue 29. Jan 2013, 21:58

hi all,

maybe a 1000times answered question but necessary for my further planing:
what kind of motor or actuator can i use with a driversweight of 110kg(without seat, frame, bottle of bear :)

i read in the forum that, if the seat is pretty good balanced, the popular motors can handel the weight.

thx

Indeed, if you have your sim nicely balanced there is not a lot of power needed to move it.
Commercial simulators including most hydraulic steward platforms have the axis not going through the centre of gravity. They can do this because of the sheer power they possess.
With a wiper motor (or essentially almost any other 12V motor) you NEED to balance your sim. If you wish you can do the math, and come to the same conclusions.

I also had in my original design the centre of gravity above the axis by purpose and against the recommendations of the guys here.
At the end I had to realise the guys here were right. :)
