Indeed, if you have your sim nicely balanced there is not a lot of power needed to move it.
Commercial simulators including most hydraulic steward platforms have the axis not going through the centre of gravity. They can do this because of the sheer power they possess.
With a wiper motor (or essentially almost any other 12V motor) you NEED to balance your sim. If you wish you can do the math, and come to the same conclusions.
I also had in
my original design the centre of gravity above the axis by purpose and against the recommendations of the guys here.
At the end I had to realise the guys here were right.
