My 2dof project noob..

Postby dipa » Sat 1. Jun 2013, 15:52

Hi guys
This si my cockpit i created two years ago.
In this time I have read many topics on the forum,

165316521651

Now i just started with new project but i need help to find the right component for that project.
The thing is to install 2 wiper motor in the two side of the pedals.

I need suggestions on the electronic part,
Velleman and sabertooth or other (more easy to do)?

in the meantime I ordered the wooden base that will sustain the old structure.
on this basis will install engines wipers...

for now I have to find all the material to complete the frame.

hello Dipa !

I wish you good luck for your 2DOF playseat ;-) that's a nice project !!

>I need suggestions on the electronic part
My 2DOF 12V DC wiper playseat is based on Arduino / Motomonster :
1634

I like Arduino because I can change some parameters easily by myself in the C code
- wiper motor's max speed
- angular range ...
and it's scalable to 3DOF or can drive other options (LCD, ...)

If you choose this way, I'd be able to advise you.
You will although find more information as soon as my project will be posted in the finished project gallery (awaiting for admin's answer).

By the way, I do like your load cell pedals ! I'm working on mine right now
Do you have bigger pictures ? I'm curious about the fully pressed position of the right pedal...

Here you can see the hall effect sensor under the adhesive tape

And the fixing point of the magnet

For the magnet i use one of old cyclocomputer.

Nice pictures ! Thanks :-)

You don't need any programming skills : if you follow my post you can simply copy and paste the code attached !!
It's ready to use !

The second PC is not mandatory : it's advisable !

I want to follow your way with arduino and
Motomonster.

At home i have the plane wood, but now
I have to order the power supply 12v 30a, atx,
Arduino and motomonster, but where i can find
2 Good pot?

P.s. My pedals upgrading is started with
2 pneumatic cilinders and 1 linear sled pot
For throttle. 1 hall sensor for the brake.
And Now i can start testing it

Hi Dipa !

you can buy any cermet potentiometer : "cermet" means Ceramic Metal.
It guarantees you that it's the strongest design compared to plastic-carbon low cost pot.

- cermet
- linear (not logarithmic)
- 10 kOhm

I bought mine at http://www.gotronic.fr/art-potentiometre-lineaire-cermet-10k-8486-11293.htm

you can find here many other electronic distributors : http://codelab.fr/177

To anwer to your question, you need to calculate the current needed by your motors !
-> but, if you choose the same motors as mine, it's okay !
(check the end of my tutorial, I've just added electrical power consumption information).

>ingresso: AC input 100-120VAC
Beware ! you're not in 230V in Italy ?
