rFactor and transducers on the same soundcard?

Postby xsimracer » Sat 1. Jun 2013, 18:59

Hello everyone, I hope you are enjoying your weekends, I'm new to the forum (and relatively new to sim racing), so my apologies if this is in the wrong section or I've made any faux pas, I've tried searching but to no avail (a tricky one to search for), I hope its ok for my first post to be a asking for help:

Since rFactor only uses the front left and right channels to output audio, is it possible to use the other channels of the onboard sound (Asus P8Z68 Deluxe, 7.1 / 8 channels) to drive transducers using various telemetry from the game?

I will be starting with one transducer under the pedals, then one under the seat initially but plan to have one transducer in each corner for each wheel too eventually, if possible.
I would send the signal from the motherboard outputs to a second dedicated 6 channel AV amp via 3.5mm to phono cables (I'm relatively proficient in AV setup)

(While on the topic, could transducers under the wheel and pedals reduce the lifespan of the wheel and pedals? Whether detaching soldered joints or creating slop and inaccuracy in potentiometers etc?)

Many thanks in advance for any input, it is greatly appreciated
