I was trying your Arduino USO firmware, and now I can tell you it works by me too. I have changed the pins for my dsmhb1.2 h-bridge and finally get it working. I mean my whole sim.
I really thank you that you shared this firmware!

More !

 I've added the following information in the first post :

Items to buy
- motors 12N.m 24V : 2x35€ + 16€ shipping
SWF VALEO NIDEC ITT 404.458 motoréducteur 24V DC http://www.smolka-berlin.de/onlineshop/fr/artikel/SWF_VALEO_NIDEC_ITT_404.458_motor%E9ducteur_24V_DC__Offre_sp%E9ciale%21%21%21_/4398

- Arduino board : 25€ + shipping http://store.arduino.cc/eu/index.php

- MotoMonster board (16V max) :
70€ @ Sparkfun https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10182
27$ @ DX http://dx.com/p/monster-moto-shield-for-arduino-red-161274

- server PSU 12V 47A (575W) DSP600 : 35€ on eBay

- 2x potentiometers : 2x7€ + shipping
you can buy any cermet potentiometer : "cermet" means Ceramic Metal.
It guarantees you that it's the strongest design compared to plastic-carbon low cost pot.

- cermet
- linear (not logarithmic)
- 10 kOhm

I bought mine at http://www.gotronic.fr/art-potentiometr ... -11293.htm
you can find here many other electronic distributors : http://codelab.fr/177

Weight
+ my plateform structure weight 8,6 kg
tube 30x20x1,5 (1,1 kg/m) 5,4m : 5,9 kg
tube 16x16x1,5 (0,7 kg/m) 4,1m : 2,7 kg
+ rally tube seat : 9 kg
+ rally harness : 1 kg
+ logitech MOMO wheel and pedals : 4,5 kg
+ buttkicker 1 kg
subtotal : 25 kg

+ driver !
grand total : 100 kg which is heavy and has great inertia in mouvements !
-> so keep in mind to build light

Electrical power consumption

I measured the power with this wattmeter : 1961

PC#1 Games : 80 to 100W
PC#2 notebook : 30 to 45W
Dolby 5.1 : 15W
Power supply PSU : in IA mode rfactor which sakes a lot ! between 170W and 220W (depending on the parameters in Arduino code : max speed and amplitude)
the PSU efficientcy is 81%, hence it gives 180W to the motors.

-> 90W per motor -> 7,5 A in 12V DC

Hi Mat!

I'am still trying to learn the basics and you've really done an excellent job explaining how you built your playseat. This will be a great help to me when I start building my playseat. However I'm still a bit unsure how you did the matching between the usage of the potentiometer angle and the rotation of the motor axis. I've understand from sirnoname postings that this is quite important if you want smooth motor movements.

Sirnoname writes:

You have to insure the complete pot angle is usable and you can use the 0 to 1023 ADC values without the usage of the X-Sim feedback pot adjustment.Do not try to decrease the pot resolution by using a limitation, this should be the last option you try. Every resolution limitation will reduce the reachable positions of your controller which is limited to 1024 positions of the pot ADC converter.

How did you approach this task?

Hello ALex !

I've choosen simplicity and solidity rather than max precision :
my pot is connected to the motor axle itself, hence the ratio is 1:1
As my motor does around 160° turn, my pot does the same

I could have used gears with a ratio of maybe 1:2 to increase precision by 2 but introducing mechanical risks...

Honestly, i'm ok like this as I don't feel the lack of precision ;)

hi,
I have make the arduino as you describe.
I can move the motors with moving the potensiometers, and the motors work.
I have the plugin from dirt2 and at port 20777 and the game sent data.
The game is DIrt3
I add at math section axis1 and axis2
I add at the outpout the ardiuno (com4) and at start up and stop R7FL7F At then data R~a02~L~a01~
I can see that ardiuno receive (leb is blink) data but the motors do not move

What esle I must add to math (x-sim3)
or what I must add to other sections?

Hello Kalarakis !

I'm glad you succeeded in the first steps !
;-)
It's strange to use Dirt2 plugin for Dirt3 game ...
Can you send some screenshots of your setup, it's hard to say without them...

hi,

game=dirt3 sim=x-sim ver 3

the answer at the problem that I have not action on the motors is at math setup
I have add axis 1 and axis 2
then when I add the filter Gforce with roll, yaw then the motors satart move
Can you tell me the axis1 and axis 2 which slots are to connect (roll, yaw, pitch)
do you have a profile for the math setup?
I have exactly your hardware.

I attach my configuration at math setup and output

Hi ,

Just a notice . During tests don't use Roll , Pitch ,Yaw.Because depending of games these effects are maybe wrong !!
For me use effects 25 , 27 , 26 you can be sure that's they ok with car behaviour.
