@ Mat

Yes the distance to the screen is 74cm - for a screen size of 145x82cm.
The height is 52cm above the middle of the screen. In my example the middle of the screen is 110cm from the floor (eye level!). The projector is mounted 162cm from the floor. But as said I will try to move the screen about 5cm more down and the projector in an angle some cm upwards - in hope avoiding shadows from the wheel. --> I will have to use some keystone correction if doing this. This will reduce the pixels=image quality ... and I will see if its worth doing this.

Try and error as always

Hi Yokoyoko,

Thanks for sharing all your great job. That will inspire a lot of us to optimize and choose the best screen optimization. ;)

Could you tell us if a curved screen is a good option or not?

Mhh I have no expirience with curved screens. The projector solution is quiet new for me and this is my first try with this kind of setup.

A big disadvantage could be the needed additional software for a curved screen. You need to warp the image that it fits to the curved radius. The softwares i know are quiet expensive regarding the complete hardware costs. + someone will have to proove if they add a lag or will reduce the image quality.

Perhaps it could be better to use 3 projectors for a curved screen. But if doing this you will need to blend and warp the image with a software. An advantag if doing this way would be the better resolution. Perhaps I would test the projectors in portrait mode?

As said before if you could realise it with your rig design a full hd resolution would be way better than my setup. 720p native at a distance of 55cm is the absolut limit (the single pixels are visible if you focus but not noticable while driving).
Perhaps there will be cheap 4k short throw projectors the next years ;-) this would be a upgrade reason for me.

In summary i think a curved screen could be a even better option but there are many things to check first and the price will increase.

Many thanks Yokoyoko!

Just my 2 cts, after some searches, I found 3 softwares for warping images :
http://www.fly.elise-ng.net/immersivedisplaylite2
40€

http://nthusim.com/store
289$ single head
489$ triple head :o

http://www.immersaview.com/products
Immersaview Warp is the professional version of Nthusim (no prices found)

or a system with a curbed mirror :
2354
but luminosity seems to be a problem with only one projector on a curb screen...

Some setups here : http://www.forums.nthusim.com/viewforum.php?f=12
