10mm works fine for me, if you want to go 12mm, doesnt hurt.

Hi, now I´ve finish my motion cockpit. I need to put all the cards, PSU, cables, etc into a box, but now it works well. I´ll put a video in a few hours.

I´ve only a problem, the AMC 1.5 works well with a cpu that has a serial port, but in the CPU that I want to play, I have no serial port. I´ve bought this adapter/converter (FTDI based)



But when I connect the usb cable, the led near the max232, not the power led, the other, shut down and I can´t connect to the board. I think that I must to use the small part connecting directly to the amc card, but I don´t know where. I think that I must to connect to the Rx/Tx pins of the amc card, but I don´t know how.

Can anyone help me??

The adapter you bought, is more likely useless. Its for RS485 / RS422 protocol (the small breakout board you see).

The best way to go is to use a breakout FT232RL board like this one:
FT232RL USB2.0 to TTL Level 5V/3.3V Serial port Module

Then you can connect GND, TX, RX from that module to GND, RX, TX on the AMC1.5 board directly on the appropriate headers bypassing the MAX232 entirely.

Then it's impossible to use the adapter that I've bought??? Is there any possibility to connect it to the amc 1.5?? I don't want to wait the shipping time, I need to try the motion cockpit now with my projector please .....
