Michaels SFGT Wipermotor Simulator

Postby Michael » Mon 9. Jul 2012, 17:23

Hi,
this is my Simulator, build the last 4 years, that was presented also at the old Forum. Powered by the old AMC 1.5 and DSMhb from Thanos.

First a Video in Action :D . That Videos are old and in the meantime my Simulator was updated. Now i have a Tripple Screen Setup, another Wheel and some other small changes. I will make some update Videos or photos in the future.

This was the first Video oft the first movements of my Simulator.

and this a few weeks later, with me on the Simulator.

This was the look from my Rcing-Rack before getting movements. I have build them on my own and looks like the commercial VPP-Professionel-Racing-Rack.

This is the House for my electronics :D

I have sold the VPP-Pedals and build my own Pedals. These are old Audi Pedals. With Loadcell Brake and powered by Bodnar Controller.

and now I want to update my Simulator with stronger Motors in the next weeks. At the moment i`m using light Car Wipermotors and i think they have reached their limits (already at the beginning not optimal) and meanwhile the wormgear (plastic inside) had some play in the mechanics. i found some Golf Trolley Motors and the Specification of them is, 12V, 15A, 180W, 177rpm (wormgear), 25:1 gear ratio, Rated Torque 5,5 Nm and Peak Torque 64 Nm :brows: , weight 3kg
I think i will also build the new 1.6 AMC from Thanos :D .

Hi,
here a current photo comparison of size of the old carwipermotor and the big golftrolley-motor :o . The carwipermotor has half the size of the golftrolley-motor.

I went from wipers to golf trolley motors as well, they suck some power but have the "F.... ME!" motion for sure!

Wow! Awesome!

the movement of your motion sim which is reacting very fast on the movie is quite impressive!!

Where did you buy the trolley motor? and how much?

If you have the specification of the big trolley motor, please let me *

I found cheap trolley motor on the aliexpress, please refer the url blow.
http://www.aliexpress.com/product-fm/293841828-Golf-Trolley-Motor-dc-motor-with-carbon-brush-with-CE-12VDC-150W-ratio-25-1-wholesalers.html

I asked the seller the specs on aliexpress, then they replied
For 12V 180W motor, with reducer.
No load speed is 150rpm.
Loaded speed is 115rpm.
Torque is 10N.m

Is this enough for SFGT style motion platform with handling 110kg weight?

jamesdio, disregard the torque figures, I have these motors and think of it this way, would a 180 watt motor have more power and speed than a 60watt wiper?
I have had several sims in the past with wipers and I posted a similar reply on florske thread.
Show me a wiper that does this! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbN8XF027lc

Thanks Michaels.

I've ordered a pair of 180w golf trolley motors from chinese seller at Aliexpress.com.

The seller told me that the motor he is selling has max efficiency torque 10Nm, It also can reach 20Nm torque with 150 rpm.
If the seller is true, I think it's the best motor ever for motion sim considering the price and the quality.

As soon as I get the motor, I'll test it and post the results.

Hi Michael, great job. I'm starting my motion cockpit and I've a doubt, how important is the angle and the length of the arms??? I want to make the arms shorter as possible, but I don't know if the motion will be worse for it.

Sorry for my poor english

Regards

hi Michael , forgive my English ...(Google traslate)

I built a sim like yours with AMC1.5 and DSMbH1.2 .
Until now I had not noticed some strange things, on my sim . A motor ( 2 ) does not move properly as the other ( 1 ) - is not very reactive and tends to be always on the middle position.
I do not know if it's a problem of AMC ( SFGT or JoyR , kp , etc ) or Xsim2 .
You may post your configurations ? (AMC firmware, kp, dip 3-4 on/off, rn2, etc)

thanks
