3DOF Arduino Motion Platform with wiper Motors

Hello

First of all a big thank you to provide such a great freeware software like x-sim!
And second: Thank you to sirnoname for providing a great arduino code!

Without that it would be imposible for me to do such a project.
A couple of years ago i build a convertible racing seat which could be hide in a table:
It was a lot of fun, but a little bit...."static" ;)

Wintertime was calling, so I couldn't work on other projects. And I started with my own motion seat project.

I wanted at least a 3dof racing seat.
And it had to be as cheap as possible. So I started thinking of a wiper-motor solution.
By now I had to invest round about 400€. Including some aditional arduinos and h-bridges.

really quickly I found that wiper motors are to weak to support the whole weight.
So I started calculating a little bit with some support springs.

I didn't like the idea of a center spring support. Because if the sim goes in an extrem position like front down and both backs up, the spring wouldn't help the motor to bringt the sim back in the upright position.
So I decided to go with 3 single springs!
I did some calculations with excel and found a good solution.
I calculated the load with 120kg.

Horizontal you can see the motor rotaion in degree. from minus 60° to plus 60°
Vertical you can see the force in N
The blue line is the Motor force in vertical direction depending on the angle.

the red line is the weight force on the front motor when the backward motors ar both in highest position. So the redline is the needed force to turn the front upright.

the green line is the force my springs are have in this position.

If you add this to lines you get the violett line. and this is the resulting force you need to bring the front up.
As you can see the available motor force is much higher then the needed force.

Which makes us happy! :D

So lets start with the dirty work!

And with the electronics:
I use two Arduino Uno.
And three IBT-2 Arduino H-bridges from Hongkong

3661

The datasheet says they can handle 42A, :o but I think I'm happy if they can handle 20A.
After a couple of problems with the arduinos and the bridges, I'm now so far that I could perform a first test:

Its running on 24V.
I didn't have a proper x-sim setup by now, so its still rough, but I'm already excited. and even when I'm sitting in it, its still very fast!

The only problem is, that after 5minutes of testing, one arduino or an H-bridge failed. By now i'm not sure which part it really is.
when i start the converter I can see both arduinos in the interface section. but when i go in the x-pid setup, there is only one arduino.
If I disconnect the h briges from the arduino there are both arduinos in teh x-pid setup.
 :? Damn it. And I don't have a f... glue why this happend!?!

And now, I have to go on a buisnesstrip and I can't test it!!

its a good idea using gear for reduction RPM,youll get more turqe and also it can protect
your wormgear but imo its better use a pivot that suppot from both sides of the gear(the one finally connect to arm)
anyway innovate job mate

That's is a very nice machine you have build! Sorry that I cant help you out. I want to build a simulator also. And have the same parts as you. 3 X BTS-2 and for now 1 x Aduino-onu.
But I do not understanding how I must wire my machine op. Do you have some wire mapping of your machine for my.

THNX all ready!
