The post was already written on simulator.de - siki-luna-sicilia-2dof-sfgt, currently being renovated, improvements. It will be updated in the future to AMC 1.6 and X-Sim 3, and become 3DOF.

Hi, my name is Michael, 30, electrical engineer, living in Sicily - Italy. About four months ago I discovered simulator/x-sim.de ... and all his people, always available. I started to think about the type of sim that I wanted to build. I chose the 2-DOF SFGT type - pitch and roll - ie 2dof-wiper-motor-car-simulator-by-Deriya-(SATO), 2dof simple wipermotor chair by ua6aak. In the future I'd like to give the 3-DOF Sim - drift / yaw - ie 3-DOF simulator by whaleman SFGT style. At the time the mortgage is in prototype phase, running 2 DOF, but some solutions will be implemented (ie 3DOF) or improved, as well as appearance. Below is a video of the first tests.

Il presente post è stato già pubblicato su simulator.de - siki-luna-sicilia-2dof-sfgt, attualmente in corso di lavori, migliorie. Sarà aggiornato in futuro a AMC 1.6 e X-Sim 3, e diventerà 3DOF.
Salve a tutti, mi chiamo Michele, 30 anni, ingegnere elettrico, vivo in Sicilia - Italia. Circa 4 mesi fa ho scoperto simulator.de … e tutta la sua gente, sempre disponibile. Ho iniziato con il pensare alla tipologia di sim che volevo costruire. Ho scelto la tipologia SFGT su 2 DOF – pitch e roll – i.e. 2dof-wiper-motor-car-simulator-by-DERIY-(SATO), 2dof simple wipermotor chair by ua6aak.

I had looked at CV joints, but the twist put me off, hence me using the uni joint, no twist and cheap for me.
Still, as long as it works for you.

hi motiondave,
about CV joint, you have provided a no twist linkage ?
I had used a universal joint, but it was almost immediately broken! (no twist linkage)

advise??? also about no-twist linkage in first post ...

I have only ever used a driveshaft from a rear wheel driven car and cut it down, welded plates on each end and thats it.
No twist in those and no breakage.

Hello Micma80,

First, thanks for this post! Looks really good. I've found interesting solutions in your pictures. Especially how the pot is driven with that U shaped plate.
I've already seen it before, but only now I've got it. I'm working on at these times to find out, how I can drive the pot there. Now, I got it.

And now, my comment on the u-joint:
I've built in a universal joint, coming from a car's wheel drive system to under my seat. I think if it could broken it'd already been. The only "problem" I had, is my first, weak welding was. I found that most Italian cars have similar rods with u-joint inside, so you would find one easily. ;)
Mine is from a Fiat:

Hi all,
tnx motiondave & wptm, yours advices are good!
@motiondave, I had also used a U-joint (very similar), but problems due to the combination of forces (lateral and longitudinal, pitch e roll) led a twisting force, destroying the joint, after less than 10 hours of use...

@wptm, U-joint is find easily, I think it's one of the best wheel truck, jeep or tractor (socket load).
about pot linkage: this solution is good, but the pots can be damaged if the engine loses control. can be remedied by inserting the contacts stroke-end (at the point of maximum and minimum of the rotation), a short trip will install.

you managed to break a car tailshaft uni joint? On a sim?
I am impressed, I have broken on cars but never a sim.
Anyhoo, if the cv joint works and is easy to get, go for it.

Indeed, the pot and the pot holder can be damaged if it loses control and makes a 360 degree turn. I've already removed the stop from the pot, so it can turn endless. But the holder would damage in a bad situation, indeed.
I'm thinking of removing the backplate of the wiper to find a solution to drive the pot there. One of my wipers is the same like yours with the blue tape. ;)
