Hi, speedy!
speedy wrote:First step ... How do I flash the ATMEGA 644/8535 with your FW ? ... cause I didn't pass this yet to use dip switches ... let me know also if there is any settings to do before that ... or can you provide a one click batch file that does every thing for me ... recommended choice.

Yes! I understand you... now  And my understanding problem was because I don't use AMC1.6 board, and I don't use FTISP programming. I have my own atmega64 board with FTDI chip without using FTISP channel. I use standart ISP (like PONY) programer in my board.
But now (and this is surprise for me) when you downloading my FW for AMC1.6 with atmega644 from this page, you will have archive with FTISP "one click" batch files. I think Thanos make this work for us (many thanks) :D The problem resolved ?

speedy wrote:Second step ... I'm using a win7 Ultimate x86 ,AMC1.6 Thanos board ,and the terminal program (that's on Thanos's post first page ) for the FTDI is communicating well with the FTDI USB UART module on COM4 ,and programing the ATMEGA successfully with Thanos FW with the help of the batch files that Thanos provided next to his FW !!! ...
So ... next ... and without unplugging any thing ... I then go to your xSimCTRL program and select the com-port setup and select the COM4 that the FTDI uses ... it still gives me a message "CAN'T OPEN PORT " even after restarting the windows ,Why is that ? ... Is it because I didn't flash the ATMEGA with your FW yet ? ...
I have some know how to change the port No. in the device manager ... Should I do So ? ... I guess that even without flashing the ATMEGA with your FW ,at least the program should connect to the AMC !!! ...

This is strange for me... I have tested xSimCTRL on WinXP(32) and Win7 Home Extended(64), an they works without any problem. Com-port in program may opened even without FW in the board (if it present in setup menu). In first - try to run programm xSimCTRL with administrator rights. If it isn't work, will think more :)

Ale

Yeap, That was one of my first concerns for designing the AMC1.6 board... To be easy to program it with one click!! ;)

What speedy wants is a batch file like in the following example, that he can use for ATmega644 on the old AMC1.5 board... The attached file is for ATmega8535.
x-sim_AMC_8535_ALE_v21_resistors.zip
(37.8 KiB) Downloaded 745 times

At least that what I make sense of what he needs...

Many thanks Prilad and Thanos:

So Sorry My friend Prilad ... I guess I gave you headache ... I'm sorry ... because while studding Thanos post first page again and again ( He is talented and experience in arranging his posts --> not to forget any thing ) ... I noticed another link to your project ... in the beginning I thought it was for the same one here ...

But (my surprise too ) that I found it guides me to the other * site which I hardly visit now ... you had a full information and a good detailed project there ... that's a good one indeed my big friend ...

Ahhh ...  I remember now ,I saw this project before ... but as I was busy reading something else .
I told you ... these forums drives me crazy ... Like Aladin's cave of wonders ...

Here is the link for the old forum if any one missing any information ... But Please every one let all further discussions be here ...pleeees :D ... it's really faster here ... and then less confusing ... for all of us ...

http://www.*.de/forum/revolution-firmware-and-software-for-amc1-5-1-6-t3912.html?sid=f5e3386bf5e9621944ccca4cd61c7da3#p39222

and for AMC 1.5 related HEX files programming on ATMEGA8535 ...I guess that since your project based on Thanos 1.5 board (the connections and every thing ) then using pony program to flash the ATMEGA will do the job ... also history information provided in the next link .

http://www.*.de/forum/tronic-s-amc-motor-motion-controller-with-pwm-servo-output-t559.html#p4495

you should do the xSimCTRL integration into the x-xim software ... it's really nice ... no wonder Thanos and others liked it too .
you should do a poll on this ...
regards
speedy ;)

... thanks my dear one more time .

Thanks to Thanos from mee too ;) And one question: what program are you used for converting *.HEX to *.BIN? "avr-objcopy" ?

And question to speedy: Can you open COM4 from xSimCTRL now? Or the problem is still not solved?

Ale

You open the hex file and then save it as binary... ;)

Normally I don't use this converter tool, my compiler outputs both hex and bin files by default.

I think, Thanos (as expert) can to help you with this question. IMHO you can use alternative firmware with x-sim software absolutly like the original Thanos's firmware, because they are compatible with input commands.

Hi prilad :
Thanks for asking ... Not always no news means good news  ... Yes it's opened ... and when you go back to verify the selection ... Yes it's there ... but there is a problem .

- I have programmed the ATMEGA8535 with the 22Mhz file using the pony program and the old serial programming interface for the AMC1.5 as a first try ...
- Then came back to program the ATMEGA8535 with the 22Mhz file the one using USB one click from Thanos as a second try ...

For both previous ways ... tried to start the xSimCTRL Oscillator for motor 1 or 2 ... I got NOTHING is changing in the program at all !!! only the sliders and the small box on the right corner [ red circle ] keeps moving up and down without the blue bar next to it ... no chart ... no changing numbers in the green aria ... no changing on the numbers of the LCD " Dip SW1 is ON " on the controller itself ... I said to my self may be it's missing something to operate or send data to AMC .

So, I've tested ... sending data from any x-sim software with a string [ ab~255~~a01~~a02~ ] to the AMC com port ... and the LCD first left numbers for both lines are still fixed ...

what is happening ? Is this a windows related problem or a hardware one ..?
If it is a windows problem ... is there any add on into windows or a running service that is required for this case ... or mmm what ?
I'm using windows 7 x86 SP1 ... graphic adapter driver is using the latest version ...

Actually I have the same problem with x-sim software and Thanos FW and I'm using your software in the first place trying to classify it .

thanks
speedy ;)
