Hey Thanos!!

Today has arrived my Atmegas!!

But they don´t send to me ATmega 644!!!!!

They send me ATmega 1284P...

I was looking the datasheet, i thinks its the same but with more memory, 128k.

I have fear that not coud program it...

What do yo Think??

thanks

You can try the firmware on it, if it doesn't work tell me and I'll make a compilation for the ATmega1284P also.
It doesn't need any changes in the structure, just define that device in the code.

Also this device is supported by the FTISP software so, just give it a try as it is for *

Can I use a 10k multiturn potentiometer (3 turns or five turns) on pot3 (watching your video I believe yes) ?

Hi Gilles,

Any kind of potentiometer is ok, even 270 degrees. Just make sure its 10k.

I did some tests today on h-bridges as there is demand for cheap ones.

So I got a cheap Chinese h-bridge that is supposed to be good, atleast looking at the specifications. Model HMD-02 : High Current DC Motor Driver Module MOSFET control

Using a wiper motor it looked ok to me, just a bit slower in response, so I attached my big servo motor to investigate more in depth. I found that the h-bridge somehow very low quality watching the signals it generated in various PWM percentages. It's like its not switching properly in some frequencies and in some higher frequencies its completely misfiring! Some good news is that it didn't overheated at all although I didn't perform tests on it under load yet. I guess I could still use it to make me a hovercraft toy to play around in the pool. Other than that I don't think its good. Maybe the one I got was defective but I still don't trust it for motion simulation.

To make sure that there was no other influence like a dramatic change in firmware or bad power supply, I connected the exact same arrangement into my Pololu 18v25 motor driver and all was great. Smooth motion, no motor squeaking noises or misfires. You can see the PWM pulses clearly and without interferences on the oscilloscope.

I'm not saying that all chinese motor drivers are bad as the one I tried above, and I hope to find one with better price that the Pololu 18v25 and the same performance. So next week I hope to have available for testing this motor driver (DBK Dual Motor Driver) that has specialized h-bridge chips on it, hopping that will be better.

Hi Thanos.

I coud program the ATmega 1284P, the Ftdisp programmer is amazing, in just seconds, but I have bad news, the AMC 1.6 hangs and show strange characters... and reset...

Coud you please compile the last firmware for this Atmega 1284P?

I´m very dissapointed with this ebay guys, they send to me another chip...

Thanks a lot!!!!

Hi Thanos ,
As promised I tested the new amc1.6 v1.1f firmware with the new simple h-bridge.I posted a video on youtube.
The test you made with the simple h-bridge disapointed me , I was waiting a lot from it!!
Life is Life.
As you can watch on the video without load and a wiper motor that looks not too bad!! :(
I don't know what I have to think now!May be buy a pololu?
For the firmware you have what I wrote to you.

Best Regards

Hi Gilles,

It looks good enough on your wiper motors. They tolerate / absorb lots of the bad frequencies that this cheap chinese motor driver produces. I added a 1uF ceramic capacitor across the car wiper motor leads and it performs a much better * It reacts fast and brakes better. Still see the misfiring on my expensive servo motor though.

I guess its good enough for simple motor setups and cheap enough for messing around with it.

Hi ne02005

Here is a compiled firmware for ATmega1284p.

Also for the reset situations try grounding the crystal case like I did in this post:
