That's funny, I ported the code for my AMC644USB (6DOF) into a Arduino Mega two days ago. I got it running up to 500kbps Baud with x-sim :D

But then I had to disconnect the DTR line because every time I was trying to connect and disconnect I had the damn thing reset

Good job, congratulation :D
I can make firmware with 500 kbps baud, there is no problem. But I (as you know) don't think that it necessary... ;)

Ale

You are right. Its not necessary for 8-bit resolution... ;)

What do you mean? Now program cycle period (with PID-calculation for both channels) = 3.6ms. I can reduce it, but why?

Yes, I mean the cycle for both motors.

10ms is the minimum for a simulator control
1ms is for vibration control (and of course much power)
This are the values that are used by the FF wheels by the game programmers.

What do you advise me? Reduce the main cycle priod to 1 ms?

No, its OK, you can make a slider from 10 to 1ms like the pololu if you like :)
Pololu uses 10ms as standard, so I think most will use 10ms.

Now the only missing part is a plugin for X-Sim.

A plug in would be nice , but what about a code that actually works!
Also , being able to source boards , components, etc. is of importance.
