Only the INO does tell you the correct wiring.

You check if the interface is detected in the interface setup.
You open the XPID dialog and set down the PWM power offset value to zero.
You drive the motor to minimum and maximum position and set the pot values.
The standard PID values should do some movment, do not touch them for the first try.
PWM to 3906 as first startup.
Disable the automated power off.
Close the dialog.

Select one of the outputs (1 or 2) to set a new value
Enter i.e. 70% .
Press "set output".

Hall effect pots?
This is a more electronic question and offtopic here. I did use hall pots with this arduino project for the 360° option. Should have a 0 to 5 volt output.
You may have more success searching the answer in a arduino forum ;)
(This project does not support encoder. You have to use a additional arduino project which will convert encoder to analogue input.)
However, what you program is what you get, all open source.

Pin 10 - PWM1 - Speed for Motor 1.
Pin 9 - PWM2 - Speed for Motor 2.
Pin 2 - INA1 - motor 1 turn
Pin 3 - INB1 - motor 1 turn
Pin 4 - INB1 - motor 2 turn
Pin 5 - INB2 - motor 2 turn

is this an error should pin 3 not be INB2 or am i being silly ?

cheers my head hurts

thanks

Not this one ;)
For AC you must define which AC you will try to use, there are many different AC motors and inverters with different serial protocolls.
A good start would be tronicgr's controller for up to 6DOF.
But do not make this thread oftopic, go to the fitting AC thread and use the search.
Be carefull, this are powerfull devices which can hurt you.
