Thank you very very much for all the suggestions guys, I truly appreciate it! I have been out of the city today, and just got back now, so I will try out all of this first thing tomorrow morning (in about 7 hours or so from now), and then let you know my findings! If I didn't work myself half to death today I would go out and try all of this now, that's how excited I am ;)...

But let's get some rest and I can tackle this with a clean mind...

Speak to you all in a few hours, thanks again for all the suggestions, it means a lot to me!

Feedback to follow soon! ;)

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!

Between the stuff Vicpopo recommended, and setting my FTDI timing to 1ms, and finally adjusting my USO settings as you mentioned Thanos, my little AMC sprung to life!!

Now, running a game, I can see the setpoint values for X and Y change, and even running the xSimCTRL software I can send a sinus wave to the AMC, and it responds perfectly!

So, the next step is to now finish building the simulator that was started even before I got divorced 3 years ago, and was documented here:

http://goo.gl/KWHU4

I am as happy as a teenager having sex for the first time man! This is just about the best Christmas gift I ever gave myself ;) hahahaha!

Anyway, let me get to it! I have some ceilings in my house to replace and as soon as that's done, I will start building again! Can't wait! I will keep you posted as I go along in a new thread...

Cheers for now, thanks again for all your help guys, I truly appreciate it from the bottom of my heart!

Hi guys!
i hope my post is here right

I have etched and soldered my own AMC 1.6, i was also able to flash the microprocessor but i don´t know if it works right because my LCD makes very strange things like them from this guy :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzY1hyBQFsA

is there somewhere a guide on how to integrate the AMC 1.6 in X-Sim?
I can not even select an input for the potentiometers or an output for the wipers. There are only G25 and parallel port available.

I hope anyone can help me
!! I want to see this thing moving !!

with best regards

Hi ,

1-Check that you connected the lcd in a right way (justone sens works ).There are enough video to check aslo and test the other connecting sens
2-adjust the lcd contrast with the potentiometer at the bottom of the board.
3- check one more time the solders.

Best regards

As Thanos requested to me I post the video for his last test with :

his new SMhb2.2 + optolink 1.0 + amc1.6 FW g

Here is the link for the video :

For the optolink he changed the way to power it:

Original : Zener 5.1 + resistor 470 Ohms
New: regulator 7805 + capacitor 22 micro farad

His commentary:

I removed the zener and the resistor completely because of parasitic noise in the power lines and replaced it with a LM7805 and a 22uF capacitor.

For the mofset he used a mofset which can drive high current the irfb3207.You can also take irfb3205 ,irlz44n ,it depens the motors you want to drive.

PS: if is not the right place to post this , the moderators will move it .

please give me the last circuit that thanos is used now and the last files that he uses now please.

Hey Thanos, I have a question for you, I know I always have one more !

I have been seeing the tests that you have did with the ebay's motor drivers, and I found this one, do you think it will works good ? I ask because I think it will work just like the DBK driver, considering they use the same technology (based on H-bridge chips).

Thanks

Hello Thanos,

You still have those packages with components of the AMC 1.6 for sale? We have 5 interested here in Brazil, you have to arrange them for us?

The package to which I refer are those of the blog; http://motionsim.blogspot.com.br/2012/05/be-part-of-project.html

Thank you.

I think you are confused a little bit... The controller on the link you provided is my AMC644USB that is completely different from AMC1.6

Here some differences:

AMC1.6:
- Can control only two motors - PWM signals only for DC motor h-bridges.
- 8-bit resolution (256 positions)
- Command line settings for Proportional term only (Not fully PID)

AMC644USB:
- Can control up to 6 motors (6DOF), true 0-10v signal voltage capable to drive VFD inverters (AC motors)
- 16-bit resolution (65535 positions!!!)
- Real time user menu to change PID settings and limits and speed of the motor on the fly.
- Full PID math for accurate servo positioning.
- And more...

Fact: I don't sell AMC1.6 boards with or without components. I don't make them or build them. That's why I provided plans for them for people to Do-It-Themselves!!

Have a nice day,

Thanos
