Thanks for the clarification Thanos.

I thought you could help us by selling something, but if not there is no problem. :)

Hi Guys,

My simulator is just about finished, yay! I am just waiting for the new high torque motors to arrive (built it with wipers for measurements sake), and then I can finally get her going, and make a new thread where I will document everything. She's made completely out of 4.5mm thick metal, and believe you me when I say that it weights quite a bit. Never the less I have a few questions before the new motors arrive and I get her all done and ready for painting...

Firstly, since my sim looks just about the same as Thano's joyrider, I was wondering whether it is possible to set a "default" or "park" position, so that when the AMC is turned on and you want to get in, the sim automatically leans over to one direction, to make getting in (and out) easier, and whether this "park" or "default" position can be programmed to a button, so that you can simply press this button when you want to get in or out of the sim.

Secondly, when I measured the amount of travel I have available for each of the 2 axis's, I found that on the one axis (up and down), when I center the sim and then start measuring at 127 on the AMC, I can go up to about 247, and down again to about 10. On the left and right axis however, when I start at 127 with the axis centered as well, I can only go to 200 when leaning to the right, and to 60 when leaning to the left. So I am wondering if it's possible to configure the AMC so that it never sends values higher than those described above, in order to make sure I never overdrive the motors, or try and get the motors to do something that simply isn't possible mechanically? I am already busy mounting the safety switches with the diodes as Thanos suggested in an earlier post and video, but I would feel better knowing that the sim will never even try to reach a value that is not mechanically possible?

Thanks so much for all your help thus far, I am looking forward to your reply on this one!

Cheers for now!

Ps, one last thing, I assume that the KP values have got something to do with this as well... What exactly are they for, and how do I go about setting them, if it is even required at all? At the moment I have 1.1h installed with the 18mhz crystal.

You can set a parking position for when you are done using the simulator. In the USO enter the following in the simulatorstop field:
AB~255~~127~~200~ (to let lean to right)

But there is no way for the moment to save this position in memory for the next start up session.

On the difference of the rotation between axis, you can make the potentiometer for the Y axis to rotate a little more using higher gearing to compensate for the X axis.

ATMEga32A is not fully compatible to ATMega644. Yes, both controllers have the same packages and pins, but they have different interrupt sources... That is why firmware for 644 ic not works with 32A

thanks for your reply !
In my country, it doesn't have ATMega644 so it's difficutl to built AMC1.6 !
might you show me the best way to built AMC1.6 use other controller without ATMega644 ???

Thanks for your earlier reply on having the sim lean over Thanos!

I will configure it in that way. I have another question that is bugging me * I ordered some samples of the AS5145 chips, and they finally arrived this morning, when I discovered that I need to build a low pass filter for it to work properly, and working with surface mount components is not that easy to do, and I also don't have the cap or resistor values to build the low pass filter as you had in your video. Perhaps you have a small schematic somewhere?

Anyway, I then went to Radioshack and got myself some SS490 hall effect sensors, but after connecting them to where my pots would go on the AMC, they don't do anything? Regardless of the way I try and move the magnets around, or go further or closer to the sensor, it just doesn't work. I am running 1.1h firmware.

Any suggestions to get either the AS5145 or the SS490 working so I can finally finish my sim? ;)
Thanks guys!
