Thanks for the info. I do not quite understand what is being done with tuning the xpid but I am going to do some studying and see where I can get. Thanks again for the help.

This post is about PID and the tuning setup, if you use the default setup of P+I+D values, this will not work.

Hi..i am a new user here. I made my simulator with 2 arduinos because i was not able to have a stable output with only one , i had problem with pid sampletime and serial communication, that was too much for me to fix it. i am not a programmer ! then...My first arduino receive the data, convert it to PWM and the second for pid calculation. I know that it's not the best but it's works very well now !

Hello all.

Loaded this x pid sketch to my arduino UNO R3 all good.
Monster moto shield mounted directly on top of arduino
2x200w 12vdc motors
400w 33amp PSU
Com10 for arduino
Baud 115200
B10k feedback potentiometers soldered to a4/a5 (and 5v/gnd)

Extractor profile for Pcars 64 2dof
Game input show changing values for many things when game is running.
Game input shows joystick inputs.

Can not get motors to move.

Output analyser shows xpid channel 1 graph corresponds with wall hits and accelleration
Output analyser shows xpid channel 2 same

Really stuck. Spent a lot of time and money with no real result yet.

Everything is mounted on a desk rig before I weld my steel frame.

All I want is project cars running with two DC motors

I can make motors move when I put the potentiometers to a certain spot and they rotate, there appears to be a centre dead spot, I can make them rotate both ways but the game won't drive them

Can anyone help? Cheers

Hi,

I hope you checked the wiring and load the correct sketch file?
Burning the bridge is very easy.

Thanks very much for the fast reply.

The mm sheild is mounted directly above the arduino using pins. It can not be incorrect.

The motor wire is soldered directly onto the board, 2x power supply wires and 2x power/gnd for the two motors.

The feedback potentiometers are both wired to the same 5v and Gnd. The two feedback lines go to a4/a5

The sketch file is the one listed in this article for mm shield

Image of control box ** I have since moved the feedback wires to a4/a5

And I do have heatsinks. Just not pictured

There are bridges with different internal wirings. Normally China ware.
Where do you connect the motors? Because your wiring seems to be wrong.
