Using scooter DC motors-question

Postby Turn » Sun 14. Oct 2012, 21:13

Has anybody tried using the scooter motors from these guys:http://www.electricscooterparts.com/motors24volt.html

(The 24V 500W model #MOT-24500X3000B on that page is the one I'm currently looking at. Cross-compatible with MY1020 motor)

If it is indeed an MY1020 equavilent, then its specs would be (supposedly) this (so I'm more interested in your guys' experience with them, if any):

http://unitemotor.com/en/cp036.htm

$90 and reasonable shipping with those potential specs has my attention.

Hi turn:
I can say WOW ... For all these motors listed there ...

The point of choice that you didn't clarify yet is ...What for ? every thing has it's own purpose to be good at it ... you make us wonder ..!!What for ?

Summery Question ? ... From the load point of view [that is you ] ... how much force you need to be moved, swinged , shaken, vibrated in a chair ? or even to be carried up ? how much up you want ? And is there any movements required plus that ? ... this question has different answers depending on the dynamics design of your simulator and What for ? ...

If you didn't came up with a design yet, don't be puzzled, there is no perfect standard design for every one ... there is only what suits your childish dreams ... Go to the amusement park and pick up the style you like the most for your really favorite game ? ... start from there and watch how they use mechanical engineering to save the power consumed and use gravity force in your side not against you .

If you want a scooter just do it . and give me a ride when you finish it  motor scooter is one of my favorites .

The motors look fine, just a matter of finding a gearbox or something to wind down from 2500rpm to about 200 prm or less....ish.

They would work, but you would need an arduino (code being sorted as I type) and suitable h-bridges.

Hi turn :
miss translation or misunderstanding can really change the meaning ... Childhood dreams is a Google equivalent translation just to clear my point ... and not replacing it from my point of view for what I mean ...
thanks for your patience and understanding ...

No worries, speedy! I knew what you were trying to say, so no harm done. I was not insulted in the least.

I'll wait a little while for others to respond with any experience with those scooter motors before buying.

I had recenly a electric scooter, this engine is powerfull but starts very slow. Like a router (starts slow then after 2 sec it's on full speed).

Alright, agreed on that, I took it the wrong way.
Didnt realise you were using a translator.
That can confuse things

Hi Turn
I dont know i you want to make a freewheeling system or not (seen youre question to Jyrki)
With a freewheeling system motorheat becomes youre biggest enemy.
You need servo,s with a continuous working erea http://www.motiontek.ca for example.
And a 4Q controller like the latest Roboteq controllers sdc 2150/sdc2130/sdc1130(JRK price range)
To ceap it thermic under control.
Only you need 500mm/sec to create 0,5G accel/decelaration this is there weakspot(for smal road bumps)

dearn - do you mean your scooter accelerated slowly, or you had a scooter motor on a bench unloaded and you found that it sped up slowly (because of inertia, etc.)? If it was the second scenerio, which motor did you have, and do you know its specs?

Hi turn:

what do you think ? ... what is the motor size here ? or mechanical arms that moves this ... It's Worm Gear motors My freind ... !!! :o :o ..Ohyeah .
they use gravity in there side not against them ... describe your simulator first Turn .!!

Oh yes ... this one is awesome ...Dedicate to My recently friend motiondave ... Sweet Dreams My friend . ;)

what really surprises me ... is not what a small blue bill can do with your Actuator all the night ... But using the gravity and a spring action is waaayyyy beyond imagination ...  you can break easily your last score every time ... but easy with the game
