new X-Sim motion controller

Postby amoras10 » Thu 20. Dec 2012, 22:52

Hi all,

Im thinking to gather x-sim community pros to build our own controller, simple because we all need
cheaper, more reliable solution then jrk12v12 or others...,
We can make ours controler or diver for motors.

For example:
I'm working in EMS company ,there is thousands of components, manufacture-assembly line. (it will only cost my extra time ;] )
So:
- I can give and get LOTS of cheap components, almost all for AMC1.6 etc...
- I can assembly thousands of boards
- I can order cheap boards
- I can deliver all world

What we need:
= We need support for this prjc,
= We need people's who somehow more or less contribute to this project.

Product:
Pre-programmed, reliable, assembled and ready to motion board controller.

Who gone join this? ;] Thanos? motiondave? Bob? Dave? others?
i'm investing really much for this ;] just need other peaces ;]

To be honest, there are good controllers already available, like the arduino, which is CHEAP, but as I am no programmer, the code needs to be sorted first and then potentially a $30 control board could hook up to some h-bridges.
K8055 and K8061 are good but need some plug in assists maybe.
The AMC is a good card, but needs a lot of work to get going...well from my point of view.
I had already donated to Thanos looking at another control card, but it needs a $2500 program to code it. Useless to me.
If you are going to suggest something, it needs to be simple for noooooobs like me to sort. Hence I use the JRK.
The JRK is very reliable, it only fails from operator error, not abuse.
But yes is restricted to 12-14v at 30 amps continuous, however, there are some good motors like the daytons, that really perform well.

Hmm...
Ok where is bad and goods points of your comment,
But for example, maybe there is a guy who can copy ;] somehow, make similar to jrk? ;]
For example schematic and board files of arduino mega already is available in eagle software

I have seen a cheap Chinese alternative to the jrk, but it is solid state relays and absolutely crap. No good for what we use.

Code sorting is an issue, as said almost anything could be used, but the code programming it needs to be sorted and made EASY!

Here is the project that Thanos started, with idea similar to yours. You can read a bit how was that progressing and how did it end up. It was a good looking project but the cost of an personal software license was too expensive in the end so it wasn't that affordable comparing to other controllers.

And like Dave said, it would be best for controller to be made for noobs or as simple as possible. I think people would rather pay some more money to get finished assembled products (like JRK's for example) rather then spending hours and hours or even days trying to figure out how to setup custom controller.

I can't assist in providing anything towards the goal but just to say that I support the idea 100%. I'm gathering the bits to add motion to my cockpit and have held off making a couple of AMC 1.6 controller boards as it's expensive just to get a couple of pcb's made up and also because the cheap controller that Thanos is working on (was working on ?) holds a lot of promise. Either way I have it in mind to get a couple of the cheaper Dual Motor Controller boards from China, the ones that Thanos has already looked at.

If this project does move forward then it's going to be a while before anything is developed. Perhaps in the meantime it might be useful to be able to purchase bare AMC 1.6 pcb's at a reasonable price. It would enable me, and hopefully others who may have been put off by the lack of AMC 1.6 pcb's, to get something going. On the other hand it may be that the right people could come together quickly and start to get the programming sorted for an Arduino board. In which case it would be worth waiting.

Keeping my fingers crossed, this could be an exceptional project.

The controller thanos was looking at that people donated to including me , may have potential, but it requires a $2500 program to code it up.
Thats absolutely useless to nearly all of us, unless he can find a cheap alternative in programs.
No more progress has been seen on this.

Hi Dave. That's a pain. Does anyone know what controller Berney is using in his Sim X kits ? For us mortals it looks like the AMC 1.6 or the future possibility of an Arduino perhaps.

Perhaps amoras10 can get some AMC 1.6 pcb's produced ?
