Ill tell ya what Bob.
I will donate $30 through paypal towards you purchasing a board and testing it.
Considering the last $25 I donated towards a control board for the community got no real results.

Hi Telfel,

I noticed that in converter there is a plugin for the kangaroo. What I not yet well understood is the wiring between the pc and the kangaroo and what is the function of the plugin.
I watched your video and your tests with the dimension engieeiring software but don't understand what is its utility because I suppose that the soft is unnecessary when xsim used.

Could you share some informations about this?

Thanks

Hi vicpopo

I am about to test the Kangaroo / Sabertooth with Sirs new plugin, I will then start a new post with all the details, I will need a little time as I have just returned from holiday and Ive had a small operation on my hand, so trying to do stuff with one hand at the moment.

In the video I was using the Dim Eng software to test the unit with my motors 375w 24v. To connect to the pc I'm using a usb to ttl converter,

24v input for the motors, 2 limit switches, hall effect 180' pot for feedback.

The sw tool allows for Autotune from the pc and to download / upload setting to the K/S.

Once the K/S is setup then the sw tool is not required, for the plugin to work.

As I said bare with me and I will post more details next week of the K/S working with Sirs plugin.

regards Terry

The software of the vendor is used for setup. It is like the JRK utility. Closed source. If it get updates I do not have to support own updates.
X-Sim does autodetect the kangaroo and send position values but do not setup.
It is not possible to run the vendor software at the same time as X-Sim is using the hardware, which is different to JRKs.
The vendor software has some problems with some serial converters, X-Sim does work with all of them.
If a answer is correct or did help you for a solution, please use the solve button.

I know, that there exsist a Kangaroo x2 plugin, but how to connect the Kangaroo to the PC (wiring)??
And for better understanding, the Kangaroo card does handle the position feedback itself. Together with the sabertooth
its a closed system like a r/c servo. So IMHO there should be two ways to control:

1) with a USB servo card (like mentioned already)
2) direct connection to the PC

Could someone please explain how to wire the Kangaroo to PC?

Hope to have some help here..

For direct connection to PC running X-Sim converter
You need a usb to ttl converter the Tx line to S1, the Rx line to S2, 5v and gnd

The kangaroo can use a pot or encoder per channel for feedback, and 2 limit switches per channel for max and min position,

The Describe sw tool can then be used to auto tune the system, when your ok with the operation, you can then use the X-Sim converter plugin.
