Low price actuator-controller set-up question

Postby AlexRoudos » Sun 20. Jul 2014, 10:31

Hello everyone, this my first post on the forums and I would appreciate any input you might have.

First of all let me say that I have no technical or programming knowledge about simulators or their components. But I am a big fun of driving simulation and two of my closest friends happen to be very good at programming and engineering. I did ask them if they could put together and program an actuator-controller set up and since they said yes I started looking for affordable solutions that might work.

So far the best set up I found is the http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?category=39&product_id=3545_0 actuator and the http://www.phidgets.com/products.php?category=11&product_id=1061_1 controller. Total cost $290.

Do you think that this set up can be programmed and be enough for use with the x-sim software?

Thank you all in advance for your input.

The controller I am not sure as I have not seen it before, but the actuators sound a little on the weak side. It would depend on the setup (how much weight they're going to be lifting). These can only lift around 80 lbs and that's at max load. For a seat mover they may be okay...

Hello!
The actuators are way too slow... No load speed 24mm/sec :-((

Thank you for your replies.

What would you suggest as the most affordable and powered enough solution for a decent motion simulation experience?

And also do you happen to know what actuators are used in the HS-200 Playseat motion by motionsystems.eu

Here's the link : http://www.motionsystems.eu/implementations/entertainment/2dof-playseat-motion-system/
