Pololu actuators with feedback

Postby thaparser » Tue 22. Jul 2014, 09:35

hello gents,
are these any good? linear actuator with feedback
of course, it would require a JRK controller.

thanks and cheers!

it has some plastic, but it also has metal gears. not sure what exactly that plastic one is for, it is true it looks like the one driving the shaft but I'm hoping that's not what it does.
looking at the specs, they seem similar to other actuators we'd use.
I guess we could ask more questions on their forum.

thanks!

Make here a table with the specs vs SCN5.
Take speed (in mm/s), power consumtion, lifetime at 24hr work without brake (melting of parts), voltage, length and lift power.
If it has 1/2 of the values we can order two for a test. The used controller seems to be very powerless.

hi sirnoname,

I haven't seen stress test information from Pololu but I'll try to compile a comparison table with what I can find.

cheers

at first glance: LACT4P-12V-20 vs SCN5-10-100 vs LACT4P-12V-5

speed (mm/s): 13 // 400 // 43
stroke (mm): 101 // 100 // 101
linear force (kg): 50 (225 in stand by) // 10 // 15
power: 12Vcc@3A-10A // 24Vdc@?? (can also operate at 12?!) // 12Vcc@3A-10A
command: pot but no controller // pot+controller // pot but no controller
price ($): 110+50 or 100(controller) // 425 // 110+50 or 100(controller)

I'm not sure all these are accurate and maybe someone with better understanding of the underlying physics around it could confirm.
hope this helps.
cheers

As controller the arduino+Moto monster = 8+25€
viewtopic.php?f=39&t=723
Monster
Arduino
14 Amperes should be enough for this actuator
viewtopic.php?t=1547

so overall is around 2x105€ + 33€ = 143€ for a complete industrial drive.
The power supply must be around 20A.
I think they get warm and get defective in a 2hr continous run. Can you read something about this continus run and warranty?
This type normally needs a pause after 2 a minutes run.

I've asked the questions on their forum. I'll update this thread as I'll have answers from them.

Hello!
The running time versus pause time is called "duty factor" in the specs.
It's a ratio.

This actuators should simple not have such a cycle at all!
If it is a good ratio or none, we can buy such a actuator and demolish them on a event with mass usage until they break.
