SN5 actuators not detected by FREX interface

Hey guys, not sure about the correct subcategory for this post as it could be a hardware/software issue - so my apologies in advance.
I've recently purchased some scn5 actuators and the 2 port FREX interface for them which was available on the website. To my understanding the interface is just an FTDI USB-COM485-PLUS2 board with custom com-port/serial to the 4pin connector on the actuator cables. The drivers automatically installed and when connected, there are two COM ports visible in device manager.

In the x-sim software when scanning for interfaces the lights on the board blink showing the software scanning the ports (meaning the interface is operating correctly?) yet the actuators aren't being detected, and no outputs are shown in the interface section. I feel it is either an issue of incorrect powering or there are specific settings in the device manager advanced COM port settings that must be configured but i can't find anything in the forums about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Debug mode is scanning the COM ports and saying there is no response

Now look, it seems you do not talk about what you did or not. The interface is not the interface that is marked as a quick entry for newcomers. It is possible to use it, however you need for example to deactivate the echo and so on.

In my setup the actuators need to be powered before i start communication to the interface.
It seems powering the actuators is needed for their position feedback to the interface.

(i have a converted Frex SCN5 setup)

Running it with the killswitch activated gives me the same problem.
