New here, basic questions.

I've been lurking online and reading a bit about the amazing projects people are completing here. I decided last October I would build a 6dof simulator. The problem is I lived in an apartment, so I've had to wait. Well my house is currently being built and should be finished by October. As soon as I get moved in I plan on getting this project started. I want the simulator to seat 4-6 people and have a budget of $6000-$10000. Is this doable?

I am having a 220v 50A outlet installed in my garage. Is this overkill as I can get a 30A instead?

Finally as I understand it the basic connection would be a 6 outlet 220V power strip connected to the 220V wall outlet and an inverter is wired into each outlet on the power strip. The inverter converts the electricity from single phase to three phase. This is wired into the motor with positional sensors which is connected to a gear box, which is connected to the frame via support rods. I'm aware I'm leaving off the wiring for the control board AMC1280USB. Is that a good overview?

I'm just trying to get a basic understand for the build. Thank you for your time.

Hi Jabrix,

Sounds good. You are right, you can use 1phase 220v power for the inverters.

30A should be enough for 6x inverters, but you might want to consider using braking resistors as well, to absorb EMF kicks from the motor as its needed in order to brake fast big loads.

Most people build them in garages as there is enough height for the cockpit on top of the platform, and usually, as in your case voltage source that can handle lots of ampere.

Good luck with your new home!

Thanks
Thanos

Thankyou Thanos, for the reply. I spoke with you a few months back about this so it's nice to see things coming to fruition. I appreciate the expertise. I'll be dropping my 220v circuit down to 30 amp. As soon as the house is done in October I'll be moving on to building the frame and purchasing components including one of your boards :) :) thanks again.
