no Dirt 2 motion data

Postby Mertensbart20 » Tue 30. Apr 2013, 20:46

Hello everybody,

I seem to have a problem with Dirt 2 to get motion data. I already built a simulator running with rFactor and have no problems. You can find the project here:

viewtopic.php?f=37&t=335

But now I wanted to try out Dirt 2 but no matter whatI try I can't get any motion data (running windows 7 with x-sim version 3.0.1.4). I already consulted the topics concerning Dirt 2 but found no solution. Right now I am running a steam-version of Dirt 2. I made a game-profile using the Codemaster plugin but in the pluginscreen the the game constantly stays on "game paused".

When I look at the file the codemaster-plugin uses the file "Dirt2_game.exe". But the game itself starts with "Dirt2.exe". Could the problem be that the plugin doesn't start because the game is activated by "Dirt2.exe" and the plugin is activated by "Dirt2_game.exe"? I tried to rename the files but than the game doens't start. And in the extractor I can't change the activation-file.

Thanks in advance,
Bart

Hello BobBuilt,

Thanks for the quick response. I tried the live for speed plugin but I get the same problem. I don't understand what you mean with the other solution. But I will send a message to Dave (I assume you mean Motiondave). Should he have a solution I'll post it here.

Greetings,
Bart

Did you make the necessary changes in the hardware_settings_config.xml

enabled: true
ip: 127.0.0.1
port: 20777
delay: 1
extradata: 1

Hello everybody (and thanks museumsteve for replying),

With some help from Motiondave (thanks a lot!!!) I got it working. It seems you have to use the LFS-plugin (Live for speed) and change the hardware_settings_config.xml file in the folder "my documents"->"My Games"->"Dirt2"->"hardwaresettings" . (I changed the file in de installation directory which is not the way to go".)

Once you locate this file you can edit it with notepad and you should change a line to:

motion enabled="true" ip="127.0.0.1" port="4123" delay="1" extradata="0"

Now I can see motiondata, now tweaking to get it running with the simulator.

Thanks to all who replied and greetings,
Bart
