Dirt showdown works....and sorting issues

Postby motiondave » Thu 7. Jun 2012, 09:54

Hello, Dirt showdown works for motion with dirt2 plugin and code change, but the game crashes right at the end of the first race of the tour, requiring a program restart.
It shows a 10038 socket error. I have tried forcing dx10, running game as admin and xp mode.
Any ideas?

That was the same error that DiRT 3 had after the last update and was never fixed. Only way to fix DiRT 3 was to bin the update, but of course you cant do that with DiRT Sowdown :(

I had a look on Codies site, going back to the DiRT 3 issue and it seems patch 1.02 is the one that killed it for motion/x-sim..and here's a line in the description in the update that probably did it..I assume it fixed something for D-Box owners perhaps..

Physics output to motion simulators is now correctly faded out at the end of a race, preventing some situations within which motion would continue after crossing the finish line.

I would assume whatever they did for that is the same for Showdown as it's also listed as a D-box game.

mmmm.....curly one then....I will try LFS plugin to see if that works.
Pity codemasters have crapped the game motion again, or just wrote it for d-box.

It's the only reason I gave up on DiRT 3...very frustrating :(

with DIRT 3 I use " Live4speed" plugin and this configuration:
<motion enabled="true" ip="127.0.0.1" port="4123" delay="1" extradata="0"
it works, maybe it will work for you too for Dirt Showdown

What happens if you change your hosts file entry in dbox 127.0.0.1?
If you do not change the "original" config file and change the X-Sim plugin to simulate a D-Box it should work? (must be the one after game installation)
I only think that there is some money behind this support.
If this also fails perhaps a dbox forum gives some more answers, would be fine to get it working and we can change the auto install scripts for it.
If a answer is correct or did help you for a solution, please use the solve button.

Ok trying to make sense of this Sir

What happens if you change your hosts file entry in dbox 127.0.0.1?
What hosts file?
If you do not change the "original" config file and change the X-Sim plugin to simulate a D-Box it should work? (must be the one after game installation)
So I would choose x-sim plugin as standard and leave hardware config standard?
I only think that there is some money behind this support.

If this also fails perhaps a dbox forum gives some more answers, would be fine to get it working and we can change the auto install scripts for it.[/quote]

I will look into dbox as well.
I am also going to try LFS plugin as well.
I will let all know of results

As far I know the LFS plugin will work better but has some other hangups on other positions or it differs from track to track.
To find this out I created a beta test but the testers did not verify the correct setup, only the first values of about 10 seconds.
It is a continous problem if we touch the file. If it is touched it hangs on game quit or if we play multiplayer. After a multiplayer race on GRID it hangs up for example.
Differs in Multiplayer, single player, patch version, game (Dirt/grid) and tracks.
Since dbox is standard entry and it is working I think this may be a solution because the game will work for all the others.
Perhaps the dbox is hardcoded somewhere inside the game and it will get in trouble with a touched config file.
If a answer is correct or did help you for a solution, please use the solve button.
