DCS World is free and can be downloaded from Steam, it comes with a few free aircraft also. I have downloaded it from eagle dynamics homepage long time ago. It is very much the same software anyway. I don't think there is anything special about installing it.

What is needed however, is the modification of the file "export.lua".

In my case the file location is: C:\Users\Your Username\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\export.lua
If you download the simulator from steam, the location could be different, I don't * A simple search for export.lua will find it anyway, where ever it is located.

Here is a working export.lua file that I'm using. Replace the default export.lua with this one.
Attachments
Export.lua.txt
Export.lua remove the .txt from the name. x-sim forum doesn't allow for .lua files as an attachment as such.

sockets 2.0? as in "windows sockets 2.0"? I don't know, I haven't installed anything extra. Just DCS World and modified that export.lua file, that's it. Export.lua is where the sockets are defined for connecting to extractor's lockon plug.

By the way, in the near future DCS is going to be just one single application as it was long time ago when the game was known as LockOn.
Now it (~DCS) has a Menu-application which is used to start Single player executable or Multiplayer executable. This was the reason why we needed some tricks to fooling Extractor that the game is running, as it stopped listening for connection when the menu application closed itself.

When "Edge" (=the new DCS graphics engine and pretty much everything else renewed as well) is released, DCS will be a single application again, and we won't need the "notepad-trick" anymore.. ;)

Now I see what you meant about sockets 2.0, that stuff should be included in the DCS installation already, nothing extra needed I believe.

Edit: I'll be online the next 5 hours and checking this thread, I hope I can help you asap, so don't hesitate to ask for a quick reply, you'll get it.
