Version 2.0.8.9 available anywhere?

Postby jerm138 » Tue 27. Mar 2012, 17:24

I can't find a download link anywhere for version 2.0.8.9. Is there any way to get it?

I created a guide on the iRacing forums for using X-Sim to drive a Bass Shaker from iRacing. The guide was written using version 2.0.8.9 and many people are reporting that they can't get it to work with version 3.

Thank you for your time and effort on this amazing program!

Here's a link to the guide I made (must be an iRacing member to access the forum post)

Hi,

this beta version is about more than 1 year old and outdated.
Sorry, not available anymore and discussions about this versions are not a part of this forum.
We have to go forward.
There is no bugtracker ticket for that here, so there is no problem.

Thank you, and I definitely understand the forward thinking.

Would it be okay if I make it available to my fellow iRacing members who can't get v3 to work properly?
I will not alter anything in any way (I wouldn't even know how to) and I'll make sure they understand that there is no support for that version.

I think it's weird that the only somewhat "stable" version is no longer available for download.

Ok, I understand that looking forward is the right thing to do, but since v3 turns out to be a lot less stable than v2 I would still recommend giving people the choice between the 2 versions for *

Luckily I have v2 allready, but can imagine newbies wanting it as well.

NOFI and just my 2 cents

hmm, v3 is much more stable than the 1y old v2 beta that was available.
At the moment the bug tracker is empty, so I cannot follow your statements which are therefore false with no arguments.
Where is your prob?

Hmm, I was adviced not to use the newer community version with all the social add ons because it was a lot more unstable than the older versions.

Am I mis informed there?

I'll submit a problem report * I was hesitant to submit one because it seems as though any mention of V2 is discouraged here and my problem report will basically say "This profile worked perfectly with V2 but it doesn't work with V3." I'm still in the infancy stage of learning this program, so I'm afraid I won't be able to provide much technical information.

V2 may be a year old, but programs don't stop working with age. I've been using it for a few months now and have had no stability issues... it works great! Most developers have all of their legacy versions available in case somebody runs into compatibility issues. Sorry, but I just don't understand the resistance to letting people use the version that worked for them, but it's your program so obviously you can do whatever you like with it.

Hello , I have used v2 and now use v3, i just had to re-do profiles for it. It works very well and is easy to get used to.
V2 is not supported here, its supported on the other forum. There is no resistance in letting people use it, it is stated that support for ver2 is not here on this forum. Thats all.
Sirnoname is moving forward and developing the new software, give him a chance to sort it with our input.

Problem is that the old versions are removed from the old site as well, so they are no longer publicly available.

Absolutely NOFI with my previous post! I think it's great to see the software evolve! It's just that I was told that the community version was very unstable, that's why I thought it was weird to no longer make the old version available.

But reading your post it seems v3 is working just as good as 2 in which case there's no harm done.

Once again, NOFI and KUTGW!
