This software will help you with the first steps to build your own DIY (do it yourself) simulator. You can find some 3D simulation programs and allot of help inside this software package. You can tryout the big amount of game telemetry values with simple displaying gauge values to some desktop or hardware gauges or you can try a virtual ride in one of the simulators. If you feel ready to build a simulator you will find a huge hardware support to fulfill your ideas. As a programmer you are able to use the open source plugin system of this software as a easy entry to the simulator world. This software does not end with 6DOF control of a simulator and supports additional control over vibration components, wind simulation or other Force Feedback devices.

upgrade1

upgrade2There are many different simulator systems out there in the world. Most of them are delivered with a small and preprogrammed utility
which will exchange the ingame data to a hardware platform. The biggest problem is the bad support for that utility for new games
so the simulator gets very fast outdated. Also extensions are not possible because of the missing development resources after
the hardware release. Extensions will also cost much money. The big different between X-Sim and commercial software is the big
community behind that software which will give support with 24 hours all around the world. Not many commercial companies can
provide you that amount of game plugins and profile support than X-Sim can. So some owner of commercial simulators have decided to
convert their simulator to the X-Sim software. The detailed converting manuals are step by step described in the
x-simulator forum.
You can try to follow their guidelines or you can make it better.
Feel free to renew your simulator, most of the old simulator hardware parts are still useable and full working because of the robust construction of early sims.
If your simulator support has ended and no more games are supported you can try to migrate to this software with one of the possible interface supports.
- universal serial port output with RS232 or RS485
- interface plugins for commercial or non commercial interfaces with USB or RS232 support
- shared memory support to combine existing windows controls with the X-Sim telemetry output system
X-Sim will help you to find a solution to work simultaneous to your current setup to avoid broken hardware.
In most cases you need moderate knowledge about electronic and programming but in some other cases it is a simple component exchange.
Note: X-Sim is freeware for simracers and simbuilders and a private development of such persons and follows the the guideline of having fun with simulators!
